Work primarily in a transition unit that held patients from the emergency department until an inpatient room was available after their admitting Doctor had seen the patient. The goal of this unit is to provide more timely patient care with initial medications, complete admission processes, and await bed placement. The patient population contained ortho/trauma, cardiac patients with telemetry, code strokes, pulmonary, GI bleeds, etc. There is a high turn over rate in this unit. While we typically had stable patients and maintained a 1:6 ratio, admissions to every floor in the hospital have been made from this unit. I also float to floors up to telemetry acquity.
