Completed a 300-hour internship under the supervision of the facilitys Residential Crisis Treatment Program (RCTP) coordinator who is chiefly responsible for the oversight, coordination and provision of mental health services to inmate-patients in a 12-bed RCTP who are in crisis. These individuals typically demonstrate an increased risk for suicide or required a more restrictive level of care due to psychiatric instability.

Prevented incidents of self-harm by conducting daily risk assessments of each inmate-patient.

Assured high quality mental health care by formulating diagnostic hypotheses utilizing the DSM-5 and making any necessary referrals to applicable Department of Community and Correctional Services (DOCCS) staff, to include Security, Medical, Mental Health, Community Supervision, and Clergy.

Developed objective and comprehensive clinical impressions of inmate-patients by consulting with their primary psychiatrist, outside treatment providers, and/or family members.

Prevented incidents of self-harm by conducting daily risk assessments of each inmate-patient.

Complied with existing policies and procedures by maintaining well-organized documentation of each inmate-patients progress through completing daily reports in a timely fashion.

Ensured application of the least restrictive treatment setting through active examination of psychiatric stability, specifically focusing on an inmate-patients readiness for discharge.

Developed the most effective strategies for crisis intervention through working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary Treatment Team, consisting of psychiatry and nursing staff.

Successfully helped inmate-patients manage psychiatric symptoms by developing and strengthening existing coping mechanisms through individual supportive psychotherapy.
