Intern at Racine Vocational Ministry

Racine Vocational Ministry (RVM) is a non-profit organization out of Racine, WI that works to prepare unemployed and underemployed citizens for the workforce to lead productive and fulfilling lives. They have a Walk-In program dedicated to the homeless or at-risk population, as well as an amazing Second Chance program for citizens re-entering society after prison. As an intern with Racine Vocational Ministry, I'm honored to do whatever I can to help the staff fulfill these goals with our participants. Recently, I have been working with the Ministry on creating a database for incoming participant data so we can track their growth with more detail overtime. It was an amazing learning experience, and I was proud to be able to show my results and build a presentation for our board and investors. However, my true fulfillment with this position comes with my interaction with participants. I now have strong, unique experiences with under-served and misrepresented populations that have prepared me and defined what I want to work towards in a way no classroom could ever fulfill. I have learned a great deal in terms of technical experience, as well as the hands-on experience with the unpredictable nature hat comes with a non-profit organization such as this. I can never repay the staff for the gift they have given me with this position. I can only hope my future career environment is just as fulfilling and intellectually challenging, and I will continue to use the tools I've gained from this position to work hard towards fulfilling that goal.
