Brenda Willett

Majoring in Social Service, Minoring in Human Service
Community Colleges of Spokane, Class of 2021
From Tekoa, WA
I am a child who experienced living in a military family and was moved around a lot. I became a mother at the age of 18 and then became single and raised my son alone with no help. I started college while my son was in first grade but did not finish. I am an artist and want to be part of the solution to some of the issues of today while I am upgrading my skills now in the field of Social Services. I want to help others in and around my community. I was married but my husband left me and I returned to a vocational school to attain my nursing license to help others and to be secure financially. I have worked for over 5 years in nursing but I have become so anxious over witnessing death and dying. I want to use what I have learned and experienced in this field but in a different setting. I feel social services will be a career that will use the compassion I have for people and I will see people that need assistance and not have to see so much death and dying. I have been studying now for 2 years in subjects that will give me an opportunity to use my passion toward a great career that I enjoy waking up for. I plan on graduating in 2020 with a BA.
