Maryam Bennett

Wittenberg University, Class of 2017
From Chillicothe, OH
Currently pursuing degrees in Business Management and Financial Economics with a minor in Communication at Wittenberg University until May 2017. Wittenberg Universitys liberal arts education has formed my well-rounded intellectual base as well as offered immense opportunities that have result in vast personal growth. I owe this growth to my experience while studying abroad in Germany, holding the position as Vice President of the class of 2017, holding the position as Public Relations officer for Wittenbergs Alliance on Mental Health, during my job as the Supplementary Instructor for an Economics course, Orientation Assistant for the class of 2019, and my acceptance into Student Leadership Fellow Scholarship. Also, I have grown from my involvement in the Delta Gamma Fraternity, Class Cabinet, Wittenbergs Womens Tennis, and Wittenberg Universitys Odyssey chapter. My growth and success is not only limited to my experiences at Wittenberg University, but also during my internship at Huntington National Bank, Polymer Technik Elbe, the Lala (an online magazine for college women), and Camp Nashoba North. All of the opportunities I have listed have contributed towards my growth as a dedicated leader and pushed me to step out of my comfort zone to tackle all challenges in order to achieve success. I am motivated by challenges, and a skilled problem solver. I am organized, goal-oriented, and self-motivated.

Marketing Operations Intern at Huntington National Bank
I am 1 of the 73 interns that were selected from over 3,000 applicants with the title as the Marketing Intern at the Downtown Columbus location. In my 12 week internship with Huntington National Bank, I expanded many valuable skills. I had the privileged of working with many different departments and obtained a multitude of different responsibilities. To name a few, my focus ranged from developing new marketing templates; editing important, secure documents; formulating and execution for Business Case plans. I gained knowledge about all components that make up the entirety of the banking industry.

Sales and Marketing Intern at Polymer-Technik Elbe GmbH
I was eager to start my internship at Polymer Technik Elbe, a rubber compound manufacturing company, because of the insight I would gain in regards to the distinct differences in the German and U.S. work fields. Working with my colleagues at PTE taught me the importance of compound companies, and all that the manufacturing industry entails. I overcame many obstacles during my internship with PTE. For example, I overcame the language barrier, which was extremely important in regards to my personal success during the internship. I was able to help the growth of the company by offering my insight on the U.S. rubber market. With PTE expanding to Mexico, I was able to research and provide opportunity for this company to widen their business into the United States and Canada. Another responsibility I withheld during my internship was translating. I translated business contracts, advertisement pieces, and company presentations.
