Bicentennial Celebration Archives Intern at SUNY Potsdam
Researched the institutional history of SUNY Potsdam using existing published and unpublished historical works, digitized publications (the Racquette newspaper, the Pioneer yearbook, local newspapers, etc), and College Archives in preparation for the College's Bicentennial Celebration (2015-2016 academic year).
Provided data files that represented the bulk of my research.
Gained a basic foundation in cataloging and metadata while working on Omeka, an open-source content management system.
Completed a digital exhibit on Omeka, showcasing my research on the history of the School of Arts and Sciences at the College, entitled "Learning Liberal: A Look at SUNY Potsdam's Strong Liberal Arts Beginnings."
Facilitated the planning of a panel discussion entitled "The History and Future of Liberal Arts at SUNY Potsdam" with experts in the field, including the current Dean of Arts and Sciences at the College, and both Emeriti Deans, which will take place in September 2015 as part of the celebrations.
Earned 6 upper-division internship credits over the course of the spring and summer 2015 semesters. (1 credit = 40 hours).
