Currently, I work as a Marine Mammal Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Operator for an international environmental consultancy. I provide advisory support and implement mitigation measures to protect marine life during industry operations. I have provided both visual and acoustic monitoring for various clients specializing in the exploration of natural resources in marine environments. I am a graduate student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio obtaining a Master of Arts in Conservation Biology. As an Earth Expeditions and Project Dragonfly student, I am actively involved in firsthand experience with inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship, and global understanding. I am joining a growing network of leaders who work collaboratively to bring about change in local and global contexts. The Global Field Program builds on the graduate courses and environmental partnerships of Earth Expeditions and the NSF funded Wild Research. My focuses lie in Community-Based Conservation and Grassroots Nonprofit Strategies. As a graduate of Wright State University, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a focus in public relations and community outreach. While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I also had the opportunity to obtain a national certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. I have extensive internship and work experience, in both the public and private sectors. I have a passion for creatively promoting meaningful causes and organizations, advanced written and verbal skills, experience in organizational development, fundraising, grant writing and event coordination, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Lead Protected Species Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitoing Operator at RPS Group
Lead PSO in the Gulf of Mexico on various seismic acquisition vessels. Specialize in identifying marine species such as whales, dolphins, sea turtles and various avian species. As lead PSO, achieved resolution to compliance issues by always keeping the line of communication open, being vigilant on checking logs daily and by making suggestions to seismic crews on how to reduce their noise impact and to understand the regulations for that area. Training new PSOs to identify and spot marine mammals, sea turtles and avian species in proximity of the vessel. Training new PSOs on the rules and regulations in accordance with the Notice to Lessee (NTL) in the Gulf of Mexico.
