Sarah Cordeiro

My name is Sarah Cordeiro and I am a senior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where I am a member of the chancellors list as well as 2 national honors societies. I currently intern part time at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island with the grief department and will be doing so until May 2016. Along with my upcoming BA in psychology I am a part of the Psychology Honors Thesis Program at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The thesis I am working on is called "The Role of Words on the Categorical Perception of Emotion Categories" and I will be defending my thesis in May 2016 in hopes it may be published. Although I am proficient in research psychology, my passion lies with helping people in a clinical setting. I will be earning a pre-certification in mental health counseling with the completion of my degree. I am currently in the process of applying to a multitude of graduate degree programs ranging from MSW's to Clinical Psychology PsyD's. Along with all of this I volunteer for the Megan L Cordeiro Memorial Foundation which was founded by my family and I as well as Camp Braveheart; a camp for grieving children. My dream is to practice therapy and hopefully one day be able to develop a new type of therapy that has never been seen before. In the mean time, I plan to finish graduate school and work in the psychology field.
