Shanna McClain

Shanna McClain is a third year PhD student and National Science Foundation IGERT Fellow at Southern Illinois University. Her previous studies focused on environmental flows policies in international river basins, estuarine science, and Spanish. Ms. McClain has worked as a consultant for UNEP and UN OCHAs Joint Environmental Emergencies Unit in Geneva, Switzerland on the mainstreaming of preparedness and prevention of environmental emergencies into the broader framework of humanitarian response. She also has previous experience working with the Environmental Law Institute on Post Conflict Natural Resource Management. Most recently, Ms. McClain interned with the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) in Vienna, Austria, where she researched the role of multilevel governance in floodplain reconnection, preparedness and response to environmental emergencies, and adaptation to climate change in the Tisza River Basin.
