Shayla Hunker

I served as a special education teacher in an Autistic/Emotional Support classroom at Mercer Elementary, using a variety of instructional methods for students with varying levels of functioning and sensory needs. I displayed flexibility as I deescalated aggressive/impulsive student behavior and created individualized instruction for each student. I also served as a Kindergarten teacher in Cochranton Elementary, utilizing classroom management skills to lead a regular education classroom. I used a variety of instructional methods to teach math, language arts, and writing, with science and social studies integrated. I adapted instruction for students with special needs and various learning styles.
