Sue Boland
I am a historian for the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center in Fayetteville, NY, near Syracuse. While her work was primarily in the woman suffrage movement in the 19th century, Gage was also an active abolitionist on the UGRR, wrote about the Haudenosaunee, studied women's history from ancient times to her present, became a feminist icon of the Freethought movement, and was the mother-in-law and mentor of L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
