The great thing about Merit is that it was set up for me, by Georgia Tech. The experience of college really adds up when you see it in one place. LinkedIn is good to make connections, but my Merit page is great for advertising myself and my accomplishments when applying for jobs.
Merit is great at showing everyone the progress I made at Lehigh. It is hard when you are in college to think about all the important things you are achieving and engaged with. Through Merit, all of my accomplishments and activities live in one place, and that is a great resource to have as a college student.
When I was first exposed to Merit by WPI, I was flattered I was being noticed. It felt like a pat on the back. Being able to showcase my achievements in an organized way with validation from WPI was great. Merit helped me identify what to highlight when applying for a job, and ultimately got me the position I have today.
My Merit page has helped me keep track of, advertise and feel good about my collegiate honors. Merit tells my personal story of success at the University of Iowa. The added benefit of UI verifying my accomplishments truly gives a professional air to the job and graduate school hunting process.
Having LVC update my Merit page helped me realize how important those experiences are. Merit encouraged me to engage in activities that will show employers how committed I am to growing professionally. Merit makes sure I have a positive online presence, and stay on track to succeed.
"When I started looking for a job, I knew that it was important for potential employers to know about my accomplishments. I connected my Merit page with my LinkedIn profile and in an interview, an employer specifically congratulated me for my accomplishments on my Merit page."
