January, 20 2016 - Verified by University of DelawareI am studying methods of assessing soil water infiltration using sprinkle, single-ring, and double-ring infiltrometers. The objective is to determine whether more practical devices (i.e. small diameter single-ring) are accurate enough for soil assessment, especially for agriculture. The program, the Basic Environmental Soil Science Training (BESST), is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). I am advised by Dr. Josh Heitman and Dr. Aziz Amoozegar of NC State University.
I developed a database for plant accession at Bush's Pasture Park using Esri's ArcGIS for Parks & Gardens model. The database is accessed via ArcGIS Online through a hosted feature service. Volunteers for the Conservancy collect data with ArcGIS Collector on their mobile device. The database is embedded in a web application which contains a basemap I drew following the color scheme of the Park's other maps.
I contribute to OpenStreetMap through the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team Tasking Manager.
I will be evaluating data quality of spatial data produced in OpenStreetMap for HIU-sponsored crowd-sourced mapping projects. I planned and organized a Mapathon. A Mapathon is a mapping event that educates the public on digital crowdsourced mapping and where volunteers work on mapping projects. The Mapathon had 24 participants who made over 1,000 edits to OpenStreetMap in Tanzania, to benefit PEPFAR in administering AIDS/HIV prevention and relief programs. I produce written and graphic reports and presentations on HIU-sponsored crowd-sourced mapping projects. I presented on open data and the MapGive Initiative at the University of Delaware's GIS Day.
Starting in late May and for the summer, I will be assisting Dr. Jack Gingrich to conduct a study on Aedes Aegypti, a vector of the Zika Virus. We will be surveying the state's mosquito populations to determine if there are Aedes Aegypti in Delaware. The data will be helpful for mosquito abatement activities and will allow for targeting of populations to prevent the spread of Zika and other viruses. It will especially be useful for travel related cases in humans, which could spread to a population of Aedes Aegypti.
I research for potential clients and enter them as leads for the sales team using Salesforce. I edit content for the website. I have performed research on the market in each state and identified potential clients to improve outreach. I design and maintain ads with Google AdWords to effectively target the market on Google Search and the web. I monitor Google Analytics to determine effectiveness of AdWords ads and the sources of the company's web traffic. I have managed the company's social media profiles, posted, and networked. I work with the sales, marketing, and administrative team to improve our marketing strategies.
