Yannik Encarnao

I see myself as a role model for a life balance of academic excellence, athleticism, artistic passions, and social leadership. While I am accelerating in all subjects, my academic interests are certainly on the side of language, communication, literature and history. Due to my multi-cultural heritage, I am much interested in international languages and cultures and am speaking at this point English, German and Spanish at varying levels of fluency. My athletic successes and activities are predominantly in soccer, where due to my related passion I accumulated the most comprehensive international knowledge, as well as in tennis. In addition, I am a passionate performing artist with an emphasis on musical theater and various types of choirs, in which I was able from early age to fill the most central and challenging roles. I am also a very good piano player with a broad repertoire of interest from classical to Broadway to jazz music. From a leadership perspective, my personal philosophy is to cherish, demonstrate, and continuously develop three trust-bearing components in everything I pursue: authenticity, decisiveness, and consistency. In doing so, I more often than not apply a leading-by-example strategy. Whether it be on the soccer field, where I give every ounce of energy that I have to spur on my teammates, in class, where I challenge my peers to continually question long-established assumptions, or in the public where I disseminate conviction and energy to support whatever cause my compatriots and I are supporting. In any of those cases, I act with the intention of mobilizing others to act similarly.
