Admissions Ambassadors are an extension of the Office of Admissions who play a vital role in the recruitment of prospective students and their families. Ambassadors are true representatives of Cedar Crest College and are expected to embrace this responsibility at all times. In this position, Ambassadors are required to attend all on-campus events, Ambassador trainings, and work 3 hours per week in the office. Ambassadors are paid monthly at an hourly rate of $8.25 per hour. Additional work opportunities are available throughout the year on a first-come-first-serve basis.
1. Overview
- Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic leader to help first-year students succeed at Cedar Crest College
- Serve as the primary leader of a Falcon Group from SOAR throughout the cohorts entire first year at Cedar Crest.
- Develop and maintain relationships with and provide assistance and support for first-year students (focus on a smooth transition, acclimation and a sense of belonging)
- Participate in training, programs and activities (see Time Commitments)
- Attend group and individual meetings (see Time Commitments)
- Serve as a positive role model
- Work with other FYE Mentors in a supportive team environment
- Support presenters and track student participation during FYE events
- Be willing, able and available to address issues as they come up such as homesickness or scheduling classes
2. Orientations
- Welcome the incoming first-year students and make them feel at home
- Assist new students with academic, social and spiritual concerns
- Lead and work with a group of first-year students throughout the Summer and Fall Orientation Programs
- Create and facilitate ice breakers and participate in social and educational activities
- Attend all Orientation activities with a good and positive attitude
- Be both a friend and mentor to new students
- Represent the College in a positive, appropriate and professional manner
3. College Life Course (Fall) and Exploring Your Future Course (Spring)
- Collaborate with the faculty/staff instructor of the course
- Actively participate in the teaching and classroom learning
- Attend the class meeting times. Fridays from 1-3pm
- Meet with your students individually outside of classroom hours to discuss their adjustment progress
Cashiers work in the same area of the supermarket as customer service representatives and also interact with shoppers regularly. This entry-level position involves operating scanning equipment and cash registers, processing coupons and paym ents, and b agging customer purchases as needed. Workers serving as cashiers also need to have knowledge of weekly advertisements and special promotions in order to answer questions properly.
