Alex Helderman

I am a senior Electrical and Computer Engineering major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with a Computer Science minor graduating May 2016. The most notable thing about me is that I've completed various embedded projects covering the hardware/software spectrum. I am always interested in networking and meeting people in the industry. My proficiency in hardware comes from years of successful team and individual projects, including one which placed in local competition, and others for graduate-level work. I have experience with design and testing of different types of embedded systems (microcontrollers, FPGAs). I've also gone beyond the required number of classes to learn from all areas including power, micro, radio-frequency, signal processing, and other electronics. My software side is equally strong. Through projects for my Computer Science minor, I've earned a familiarity programming with C, Verilog, MATLAB, Java, PSPICE, and more listed in my Skills section. As for hobbies, I helped co-found WPI's Art and Design Club and I'm finishing my second year as its president. I have also helped lead WPI's student branch of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) for the past few years. In my free time, I enjoy painting and drawing.
