Dance Marathon is the largest student organization at the University of Iowa that provides emotional and financial support to pediatric cancer patients and their families treated at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Our organization is a year-round endeavor, hosting many events each month for our families and dancers. As well as several fundraising events throughout the year. All of the fundraising efforts are celebrated during The Big Event, which will take place February 3rd and 4th 2017. This past year was the 22nd annual Dance Marathon in which we were able to raise over $2.4 million for our kids and families! Over our 22 year history, we have raised a grand total of $18,965,080.67 all For The Kids! As a Coordinator for Dance Marathon, I have the privilege to advise an amazing group of dedicated and selfless student leaders on the best practices of running a successful nonprofit organization. I work directly with the Executive Council to manage their committees, plan and execute family and fundraising events, and encourage leadership development in each of these students. In my first year as an advisor, Dance Marathon fundraising increased by 21%, the largest gain in the history of this amazing organization!
