Bailey Hurley

Majored in Broadcasting
University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Class of 2018
From Fargo, North Dakota
Im currently a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursuing a degree in Television Broadcasting with a minor in Criminology and Communications. I'm working to one day come to people on their TV screens as a local crime reporter. My high school's television station, The Packer News, opened my eyes to my love for journalism, hard news and being in front of a camera. I was lucky enough to have a program like this where I could do what I was interested in, learn and still make mistakes along the way. I then interned for a local news station, Valley News Live, in my hometown, the summer after my freshman year of college. I learned more in 3 months than I ever imagined. I was able to go with reporters to real stories every single day. I helped shoot b-roll and interviews, helped ask questions in interviews, as well as helped write and review scripts. I also did a few of my own VOSOTS, wrote the scripts to go along with them and they all were aired. I also am formerly a soccer player. I've transitioned to coaching when I go back home for breaks and summers. Teaching kids the sport I love and watching them progress & succeed is one of my favorite things. I always keep busy by involving myself in the campus news station at the university or writing articles for the campus paper. If I'm not doing that, I usually have some sort of odd job. I enjoy working, meeting new people and helping those that need it.
