Dr. Thomas S. Castor is a faculty member at Radford University Carilion in the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Leadership. He serves as the Program Director for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Public Health degrees at Radford University. Tom earned his Ph.D. in Health Education from The University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio. He has extensive work experience in the field of health education/promotion, working as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). While working in academia, Tom's research has focused on Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD), and addictive behaviors. He has led and co-authored multiple research studies focused on understanding and reducing the use of drugs, specifically alcohol use and marijuana use, among college-aged individuals. He is an active member of the American Public Health Association (APHA), the Society of Public Health Educators (SOPHE), and the University Assisted Community Schools Network (UACSN).
