I received my Master of Science in Education for Counseling with a specialization in Student Affairs Leadership and Practice from Youngstown State University. My background as a Graduate Assistant Intern in the Offices of Student Life and Student Activities has prepared me for various positions within higher education. As a GA, some of my responsibilities included overseeing the Emerging Leader Program, YSUs official leadership program. My duties included hands on student outreach, in which I recruited 105 new students in my first year in this position, and I recruited an additional 95 students in my second year. I promoted and facilitated leadership workshops and activities throughout the campus community to encourage student success and ensure successful progression through the program. My unique contribution to this leadership program was the successful recruitment of international students to enhance intercultural understanding and appreciation for diversity. Through a person-centered theoretical orientation, I successfully demonstrated the application of Chickerings Theory of Identity Development and Astins Involvement Theory within the leadership workshops and activities in order to ensure successful student development. My resume reveals that I have a solid background in student activities programming, and highlights my excellent communication skills needed to collaborate with campus faculty and staff members in order to plan, develop, and implement a wide range of student programs and events. As a member of the Student Conduct Board and Title IX committee, I was a part of the educational hearing process for the creation and implementation of academic and developmental sanctions and co-facilitated sexual assault prevention and bystander intervention programming for the entire campus community. Finally, my ability to maintain a high GPA while working, going to school, and actively volunteering in the community demonstrates my ability to successfully multi-task.
