Daniel Haack

Majored in Communication Arts
Wartburg College, Class of 2016
From Algona, IA
I am from a small town in north central Iowa named Algona. I've never lived anywhere else and throughout my life I have been very active in my community. From acting in various theatre performances to playing my trumpet at the funeral service of veterans, I have done much for the small town. As much passion as I have toward fine arts, I have even more so for all things communications. This passion came from a TV Production class I took in high school. The class taught us all about how TV news works. We even had our own studio so the class put together our own shows. I enjoyed it so much, I went on to compete in a national TV Production contest called SkillsUSA where my partner and I placed 9th in the nation against the best high school students in every state. College has bumped my passion ten-fold. I have a newly developed love for print news writing. I am also able to continue my work with Television and also I've started doing more with the college's radio station. It wasn't until this year, 2014, where I was introduced to Public Relations. This is a field I knew existed, but didn't know what went into it. I took a class called "Organizational/PR Writing Techniques." It has now formed into passion. I love the idea of mutually beneficial agreements and I'd love to have a career in this field in the future. Well I think I'd better stop there before I make this any longer. Knightlife Editor at The Trumpet
This position was offered to me because of my previous work in my "Print Journalism" course. Every week, I give staff writers their assigned stories, then they send me the finished copy during the week. I edit that story, put it in either the newspaper or publish it online at wartburgcircuit.edu. If we are short on stories for the week, I take up a story or two that will be used.
