Majoring in Interior Design, Minoring in Design Studies
Iowa State University, Class of 2018
From Mason City, IA
I am an undergraduate Interior Design student in the College of Design at Iowa State University. I will graduate from Iowa State in May of 2018 with a BFA degree in Interior Design and a Minor in Design Studies.
I am a self-motivated, hard working woman and am very passionate about Design. I believe that passion drives inspiration and inspiration is the key to success. Throughout my education I have worked on hospitality, commercial, retail, healthcare, corporate, and residential design projects where passion and inspiration are crucial in creating innovative designs.
Over the last four years, I have participated in IDSA, a student organization dedicated to providing project feedback and interaction with the professional community, and IIDA where I have been able to learn the industry and receive feedback from a mentor to grow as an aspiring professional.
During Summer of 2017, I completed a professional internship with HFR Design, Inc. in Kansas City, MO. During this time I worked on healthcare design projects, prepared construction documents, implemented AutoCAD plans into Revit and built the interior structure and casework. In addition, I created alternate plans, elevations, detail drawings, material and color sample boards, redlined shop drawings and demolition plans, met with reps, clients, and attended contractor meetings. During this time I was able to assist with creating marketing material, researched marketing strategies, and helped with branding the Kansas City HFR office to better understand the company and how to build lasting client relationships.
I am currently preparing for the LEED GA exam and am also registered for the IDFX exam following graduation to get a head start on obtaining my NCIDQ license and LEED GA certification. I am actively seeking full time employment after my graduation in May, 2018.
