Gryphon at Lehigh University

The main goal of my position is to help build community inside of my residence hall and to coordinate joint events with neighboring halls. I am the RA of Umoja House. Umoja is Swahili for unity and the goal of the house is to promote both diversity and inclusion across Lehighs campus. I am responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of 27 residents that includes both upper and lower classmen. Scheduled "G Chats" with all 27 of residents periodically throughout the semester to talk about classes, social life and problems back home. After these talks, if necessary I put my residents in contact with resources on campus. I also act as a liaison between students and the Lehigh University Office of Residential Life I've organized 10 events that have helped build a stronger community in the residence hall and we've had many talks about topics like culture, race, sexuality and gender identity.
