My main goal for being a Peer mentor for the Criminal Justice department is to help students feel comfortable and to provide resources to them that are available such as writing help etc... that they will benefit academically from.
We explored the many different career opportunities available to those who have a Criminal Justice degree. We did this by having speakers come and talk to us, as well as going on field trips to correctional facilities, the police training facility, Monroe County Crime Analysis center, and more....
Throughout being a Student Ambassador for The Office of Co-op & Career Services , I have improved my professional skills, communication skills , and it has given me the opportunity to network with employers.
In the Pre-Law association, lawyers, law schools and those that are or were actively involved in the judicial system, came in as speakers and shared their experiences. Also, Kaplan came to offer a free course to some students in preparing them for the LSAT.
