olene Vincent is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Sociology and a Womens and Gender Studies Junior Affiliate at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida, USA. Jolene earned her B.A. in Sociology at UCF in 2014 with a Certificate in Victim Advocacy. She completed her M.A. in Applied Sociology with a specialization in Domestic Violence just one year later. Jolenes professional experience includes serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for criminology and sociology related courses while completing her Masters degree. Now in the Ph.D. program, she is a Graduate Teaching Associate/Instructor of Record and has developed and taught curriculum in sociological and criminological courses including sociology of murder, social problems, and patterns of domestic violence in society. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Jolene serves as the Assistant Director and Senior Data Analyst for the Sociology Crime Lab at UCF and is the Managing Editor of Homicide Studies, the official Homicide Research Working Group journal. Jolene is also currently examining data for her Ph.D. dissertation, Time After Time: Analyzing and Expanding a Sociological Perspective of Serial Murder. Her discipline-related memberships include the Homicide Research Working Group, the American Society of Criminology, the Southern Sociological Society, the Southwestern Social Science Association, and numerous honor societies. Jolenes research appears in a refereed book, Human Trafficking: A Systemwide Public Safety and Community Approach, Goltz et al. (Eds.) (West Academic Publishing, 2017), as well as peer-reviewed manuscripts in Deviant Behavior and the Journal of Forensic Sciences. As a sociological criminologist, Jolenes research focuses on lethal and non-lethal violence, deviant behavior, homicide, and human trafficking. Jolene plans to use her Ph.D. to further her knowledge in sociology and criminology with a career that will allow her to continue teaching and doing research following her expected summer 2018 graduation.
