Majoring in Mechanical Engineering
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
From Buffalo, NY
I am an aspiring engineer with some experience. I was fortunate enough to partake in an internship at Northrop Grumman while still attending high school at Hutchinson Central Technical High School. I graduated ranked 6th in my class of over 300 students and was part of the National Honor Society. In high school I ran track and was a captain on my football team both for three years. I won defensive player MVP and went 1st team All-League. Time Warner Cable also recognized me as scholar athlete of the week and interviewed me which was featured on Time Warner Cable News. My experience at Northrop Grumman was very fruitful as I was able to expand my knowledge of engineering concepts and actually able to see engineers at work with my own eyes. The mentors there also designed certain activities that would help the interns and I with core skills such as team work, public speaking, presentations, strategic planning, as well as some basic computer coding. Some of our projects included smartphone apps, solar powered cars, basic robotic projects and coding to interface several other projects together. I am grateful to have gained a lot from the program as well people who can help me in my future regarding finding a career.
