My name is Rebekah Elizabeth Kroll, born on July 4, 1997, which is ironic because I am half British. I love the outdoors, whether it is kayaking, hiking, or mountaineering, because it builds character. My Dad and I have summited Mt. Washington, Franconia Ridge, Algonquin, Mt. Marcy, Mt. Wright, Mt. Pierce (twice), and most recently Mt. Adams, all in the winter, making it much more difficult.
I also enjoy serving and working directly with people. I have been to Italy, Mexico, Russia, Belize, and Israel on service trips that range from working at orphanages to cleaning Holocaust survivors homes. This summer I will be traveling to Turkey. I have always had a heart for reaching out to those who are in need, whether it was volunteering with children at a creative arts camp, with older adults at retirement homes, or simply picking up trash in downtown Lancaster. Some of my volunteer activities have allowed me to use my musical talents. I am on the worship team at my church and assist the director at my high school during the spring musical. During my time at Dayspring Christian Academy, I had the lead role of Nancy in Oliver! As a senior, I was Maria in The Sound of Music. I am a classically trained first soprano and continue to sing at Elizabethtown through the music scholarship program.
In addition to fine arts, I have participated in basketball since 6th grade. I was captain of the varsity team for three years receiving the Best Sportsmanship Award twice. During my senior year, we placed first in our CCAC East Division and I was one of five chosen from our division to be on the All Star First Team. I also received a PIAA District Three Frackler Hower Sportsmanship Award my senior year. I was blessed to be on the Elizabethtown College Womens Basketball team and hope to play again next year.
Even with all my activities, I am a part of the Honors Program and am a member of the Honors council. I was chosen to represent the freshman honors class this past fall at the National Collegiate Honors Conference in Chicago. I have was a member of the National Honor Society since 10th grade and was President my senior year. As a teacher, I plan to use my all of my gifts and talents to help students learn and would love the opportunity to coach a basketball team, direct a school musical, or start an outdoor club.
