Rachel Stewart

The University of Alabama, Class of 2017
From Peachtree City, GA
I am currently a senior at the University of Alabama in the honors college expected to graduate in December of 2017. My academic journey began in the engineering department at the University of Alabama where I pursued a Computer Science major for two years. While studying abroad in Peru with a service learning team of engineering students, I was deeply moved by the Maijuna tribe community that lives in the Amazon rainforest. I lived with the Maijuna tribe during the summer of 2014, and I realized during the service learning program that economics is truly the root to all decision making in the world. I left Peru with a new sense of direction, and now I am a dean's list student pursuing a double major in Finance and Economics while working part-time on my STEM educational outreach program for University of Alabama's Honors College. I'm a dedicated and enthusiastic learner hoping to develop my professional experience in business with an internship or part-time employment opportunity.
