It was just a dream to be in the United States of America, but I have to say that so far it has been a privilege to be here. Doors and opportunities are opening up everyday and although it's too overwhelming, I appreciate everything about it. Moving to America, from Haiti, is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My experiences has lead me to the place I am right now. In 2010 I started working as a camp counselor, but prior to that I was a volunteer worker at an afternoon program at Tower Street School in Westerly, Rhode Island. The volunteer job helped me acquire the camp position. The camp job was a summer program for kids ages 5-12 years old started from 8am to 4pm. I go back every year because I love working with the Town of Westerly and I love making a difference in those kids lives. My next job was harder because of the responsibilities and the duties I was given. I worked as a cashier and also has a customer service associate. Prior to getting this job, I did a side job at the beach and I worked as a waiter, cashier and cook. I had experience and skills on how to count money or how to approach a customer. The language barrier was tough, but I was willing to challenge myself and it was a success. I believe that networking and wanting to challenge yourself is one of the best things to lead to success. In 2013 my friend recommended me to the Manager at Applebee's and I had an interview the same day and started working 3 days after that. I would say by far the best experience I have ever had, because of the work environment. I continue to challenge myself everyday and to find more opportunities that would create an outstanding career in the future.
