Be the change that you wish to see in the world. Mahatma Gandhi About Me: Like most, I grew up wondering what profession would I like to pursue. I ignored the gift that was naturally given to me. I have always shown kind acts and given freely to others. As a young girl, I was disheartened seeing those less fortune than I. As a teen I volunteered at a local hospital, it has always been my desire to help others. This experience inspired and motivated me to be the person I am today. In reflection, previous positions allowed me the experience to work with various populations in need of assistance; from customer service roles, education/special needs, geriatric, and organizing, networking, and community involvement. Social work is my calling. I pursued Direct Social Work, I enjoy making a difference in the lives of others. Its my passion to improve lives of individuals encountering hardships, by providing basic essentials, such as; deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, personal items, cleaning supplies, etc. Why Social Work: Social work is very rewarding, and allows me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals that are in distress. Doing so, I can impact my community by implementing and coordinating programs that assist individuals with the daily struggles of life that are beyond their control. My passion: Provide support, advice and educate in an effort to help individuals experiencing life issues or in crisis such as; grief, chronic, terminal illnesses, domestic issues, or homelessness. These are examples of causes I advocate and campaign for within the community. Thats who I am, this is what I do: Assisting individuals in need of services Advocate for and develop individual goal plans Research and refer individuals to community resources Works with individuals, families or groups Build working partnerships with local, state and Federal government agencies .
