Aleyna Ashenfarb

Student at Ithaca College majoring in Music Education and Trumpet Performance
My name is Aleyna Ashenfarb and I am excited to be a member of the Ithaca College Class of 2019. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Trumpet Performance, where I have studied under Dr. Aaron Witek and Dr. Kim Dunnick. I have played in the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble, as well as a student-run trumpet ensemble and brass quintet. I have been on the School of Music's Dean List every semester and have been inducted into the Ithaca College Oracle Society and Pi Kappa Lambda. Along with ensemble performance, I am actively involved in Ithaca College's Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Chapter and National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Chapter, where I have served as President. I am also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional music fraternity that emphasizes service through music. I have worked as a music specialist at a YMCA Day Camp and at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp during summers. I have performance experience in concert bands, jazz ensembles, jazz combos, and pit orchestras, and have played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria. I received the U.S. Congressional Award Bronze Medal before attending Ithaca College. I am eager to continue expanding my experiences as an Ithaca College Bomber.
