Alexandria Hartsell

I received the 
Leadership Scholarship
 from Belmont University. The 
Leadership Scholarship
 is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities as evidenced through the resume of activities. I was heavily involved with my local communities in Charlotte, Cornelius, and Davidson NC. I was a volunteer, ambassador,youth mentor, and now a legacy for a Charlotte-based charity called the Sand Box. The Sand Box is an organization that supports families who have a child with cancer or a life-altering illness finically and emotionally. Every year we create a prom for the kids and their families. As a youth mentor, I was paired with a long teenage girl who had cancer through the prom process. From picking out her dress to supporting her as she finished her last rounds of chemo therapy. I was also a elementary intern for Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and special needs classrooms. Sometimes the teacher would ask me to substitute his or her class for the day. I would work with kids who struggled with their school work to help them overcome their obstacles. For my girl scout award , I raised over $2,000 for iPads and learnings apps for our special needs classrooms. These iPads made a huge impact in these students learning. I was also a book buddy for kids in low income areas of Charlotte who were significantly struggling in reading and comprehension every Friday. I am very grateful to receive this scholarship and that Belmont recognized my leadership and pursuit to help others.

I rushed Alpha Sigma Tau my freshman year. I love participating in sisterhood events with my sisters. I have been on the Formal Committee and Mardi Tau committee. Mardi Tau is our yearly fundraiser event for our philanthropy Girls Inc. I grown personally and professionally since joining Alpha Sigma Tau.

I joined GrammyU my freshman year. GrammyU has given me opportunities and experiences that have helped me grow professionally. Some opportunities that I participated in was volunteering at the Grammy Block Party, volunteering at Lady Antebellum Facebook live stream, and volunteering at Tin Pan South.

I joined the Belmont University Copyright Society. I have been to many lectures from different entertainment professionals including Mark Volman. I have gained advice that will help me as a pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
