* Serving as technical assistant to auditor in income tax non-filer crosscheck programs: assisting in implementing various non-filer crosscheck programs, resending non-filer letters returned by postal service for incorrect address, screening returns for completeness and accuracy, contacting taxpayer via correspondence or telephone if additional information is needed, processing late filed return and adjust tax, penalty and interest due as necessary, assisting with follow-up calls and letters to non-filers. * Assisting auditor in daily maintenance of referral files, making joint decision with auditor on activity of file: establishing files and open audit for non-filers identified through public sources, referrals, and voluntary reporting, requesting return transcripts from the Internal Revenue Service for further use by auditor. * Providing taxpayer assistance and information: assisting taxpayers in person, via telephone, and through written correspondence relative to the interpretation of individual income and withholding tax law, assisting taxpayers with the preparing and filing of proper state tax forms. * Participating in in-house training, assisting with training new employees, testing computer programs, and developing office and desk procedures.
