Andrew Hughes

Andrew Hughes is a Lead Financial Analyst Intern at Azusa Pacific University. He is currently pursuing two bachelor of science degrees in applied mathematics and finance, with an emphasis in actuarial science. Andrew has been awarded a spot on the Deans List at Azusa Pacific for all four semesters he has been enrolled, and expects to graduate in May of 2021. Through his role as a lead financial analyst, Andrew oversees a group of five analysts and aids them with their valuations while also performing his own analysis. Everyone in the internship group, Student Investment Fund, has their own company that they evaluate and present to Azusa Pacifics Board of Investors. Andrew is also a member of Azusa Pacifics first Chartered Financial Analyst Orange County Challenge team which kicks off November 1st. These opportunities have allowed him to develop interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively read through financial reports, and the ability to evaluate a company using numbers from reports as well as economic moat, competition, current events, and other factors. Andrew keeps his skills sharp by tutoring hundreds of college students in eighteen different math and finance courses. He has experience tutoring in come-and-go and one-on-one settings, as well as tutoring elementary and disabled students. This experience has taught him how to efficiently work with various personality types. Andrew has a desire for learning and stays involved in various activities to increase his knowledge and skills. Through his studies and work Andrew has become proficient in both Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well as the statistical programs SPSS and StatCrunch. He also has basic knowledge of R Studio and Matlab. Andrew has amassed many hard and soft skills through his activities and studies that he uses to learn, grow, and effectively work in the work force.
