Majoring in Communication
Wisconsin Lutheran College, Class of 2019
From West Allis, WI
I am a current student at Wisconsin Lutheran College working towards a Communication major. Some of my strengths are working within groups, time management, and organization. I am excited to get into the work force and show how I can use my strengths to the best of my abilities.

Baseball
On the baseball team at Cardinal Stritch University. This experience was not only fun because I got to play baseball at the collegiate level, but I had started to learn manage my life during this time period. Being away from classes and having to do homework on the road forced me to have to learn how to better manage my time to ensure I was keeping up to date with my school work while attending Cardinal Stritch.

Intern at Prescriptions Plus

I was a intern for the Vice President of Operations at Prescriptions Plus. Over my time working with John at Prescriptions Plus I was asked to take on a number of tasks at the pharmacy. I often was asked to check through the pharmacy's customers accounts for any outstanding balances, ride along with John to our many different nursing home/independent living homes we serviced, scanning in new admission paperwork, and updating a presentation the pharmacy uses to attract new business. Over my time working under John, some of the things I have learned are effective management, reiteration of the importance of organization, different ways to deal with unsatisfied customers, and more importantly I got to learn a lot more about the work that goes on before and after the normal production of the pharmacy.

Group Leader at WAWM Rec Department

Group leaders were in charge of a listed number of kids ranging from 15 to 25. We were responsible for the safety and well being of each child as well as ensuring that their time at the Summer Camp was well spent and enjoyable. As well as watching after them at the school that hosted the camp, we went on field trips in which we were responsible to look after there kids in a uncontrolled environment.

Teacher Immediacy
This is a research project I completed for a class requirement at Wisconsin Lutheran College. My topic for this project was the relationship between gender, teacher immediacy, and perceived student satisfaction. This research project was very important for me as a student because it was my first attempt at real research. By taking this course and completing the research project, it paved a way for me to work on any future papers and presentations throughout my academic career. I knew where I could find research, how to look for any research, and more importantly how to analyze the research. This project also was my first time giving a presentation outside of class. It gave me an experience presenting outside of the classroom that I have not experienced since. It is a completely different environment, even though it was still on campus, and I believe it has given me insight on how it will feel when I am in the workforce.

Leadership Project
My Leadership project was one of my favorite projects to have worked on here at WLC. For this project I had decided to run a 50/50 raffle and donate the proceeds to The Ronald McDonald House. The project seemed a lot easier in my head than it turned out to be. By working on this project, I had to work with more people than I had thought. This project gave me real world experience in how much work and effort it takes to coordinate even a small event such as this. It also allowed for me to understand the work that comes before, during, and after the project. This project was one of my favorites because it gave me and experience I did not enjoy all too much at the time, but afterwards when I could contribute to a great cause made me feel like I had accomplished a whole lot more than the small donation I had made.
Presentations
Turf Field for WLC
A turf soccer field was something I suggested along with a partner. This assignment was beneficial to me because when my partner and I had presented it, we had a special guest in the room listening to our ideas and plans. This presentation specifically has helped me learn how to reach my target audience. While we presented in front of the class for this assignment, we were more focused on delivering the message to the men;s soccer coach here at WLC, than gaining interest from our classmates.

Capstone Project
For our Capstone project this year we decided to work as a group to try and grow Merit on WLC's campus. Merit offers a lot more than WLC was using it for and we as a group believe that it can be very beneficial to the student body. For us to be able to try and grow Merit on WLC we had to be taught in training and development. Throughout this class I have gained valuable information that has made me focus more on it and how to deliver that message in the most effective and efficient way.

Philosophy of Communication
Looking back on my philosophy of communication from my sophomore year I can see the difference of what I have learned from communication, and I now have a better understanding of the importance of communication. Now I see communication as one of the biggest influencers of our lives. Communication is something that comes in many forms and the effectiveness of how we communicate can determine the success we achieve in our lives.
