My name is Maria del Carmen Huerta I am a diligent, curious and adventurous junior at San Diego State University majoring in journalism with an emphasis in public relations minor in marketing. As a native of Southern California I am familiar with San Diego's great hospitality and tourism. After graduation I plan to pursue a career in the lifestyle and hospitality public relations industry before going to graduate school. My greatest assets are my can-do attitude and involvement on and off campus.This year I have begun to focus on startups and entrepreneurship. As a member of the prestigious Lavin Entrepreneurship Program at SDSU I plan to master business skills that will assist me toward my goal of fusing two of my greatest passions: hospitality and entrepreneurship. I plan to one day establish a public relations agency of my own here in San Diego as well as give back to the community. Worked under the guidance of Rock Church's public relations department to build strategic tactics and provide support to Rock events through the implementation of media alerts,social media efforts and community awareness. At Rock Church interns and volunteers have the opportunity to gain nonprofit experience and learn how to execute and participate in large-scale events, such as Toys for Joy and Good Friday. Radio Show Host and Blogger at KCR College Radio
KCR College Radio is San Diego State University’s premiere student run college radio station. KCR broadcasts live online for the SDSU and greater San Diego community. All shows are hosted by current SDSU students and some alumni. Every Friday from 10-11 a.m. tune in to KCR to listen to #StateProblems hosted by Jocelyn Salas and Maria del Carmen Huerta as they interview local San Diego entrepreneurs, students and faculty on everything SDSU. Duties: • Conducted interviews regarding on campus and current events relating to SDSU. • Scheduled guest for #StateProblems every week and helped coordinate the agenda and script. • Posted on the #StateProblems Facebook and interacted with listeners.
