Patients and healthcare providers reach out to UAMS from all over the world to find out what the best treatment plan would be for their specific cancer diagnosis. For the evaluation, all patient records including pathology slides and radiology CD must be obtained and compared to testing done in Arkansas to plan the best treatment possible. An Intake Coordinator schedules new patient evaluations for the Myeloma Institute and helps with the coordination hospital transfers. The Intake Coordinator takes calls from potential new patients and from referring doctors. Informs patients about the treatments at the Myeloma Institute, what to expect and how long the evaluation will take for testing and/or treatment. Knowledge of up to date chemotherapy treatments and the stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma, lymphoma, amyloidosis, Castlemans disease and Waldenstroms.
