Counselor for Cornhusker Boys State at The American Legion
As a counselor for Cornhusker Boys State, my goal is to educate our youth in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. I have a week with about 60 young men, juniors in high school, with whom I will build a sense of responsibility in the American Democratic process. Throughout the week, I will teach them how to be an informed and active citizen while also building cohesiveness amongst the group as well. They will complete tasks together, run and vote for offices, and also gain connections with others that they will maintain for the rest of their lives. My role is to lead them to a better understanding and appreciation of the American government and their role in it.
