I earned the Sherwood Anderson Prize for Fiction from the English Department for "[the] commitment to the protocols of the young-adult-dystopian-future genre. The details applied to world building helped situate the reader and created a forward momentum that carried me along. The mixture of fluid dialogue and credible internal conflict suggested that the author had carefully studied earlier novels in this style and showed evidence of effective editing and revision."

I was awarded the Non-Fiction Prose Award by the English Department for "major risks from the outset, riffing off of the analogy outlined in the title, breaking formal expectations, juxtaposing odd but illuminating pairings" and being "raw and weird, and the judges mean that as a compliment of the first order."

I was a member for the spring of 2013 and took over the presidency in 2014 trying to get the chapter back on its feet and visible on campus again as a society. We conducted a book drive at the end of the fall semester in 2015 with donations going to Better World Books and the American Readers fund.
