Kathryn Campbell

Majored in Environmental And Spatial Analysis
University of North Georgia, Class of 2017
From Lawrenceville, GA
I graduated from the University of North Georgia in the Fall of 2017 with a B.S. in Environmental and Spatial Analysis with a focus on Environmental Studies and certificates in Geographic Information Science, Geospatial Technologies, and Space Studies. While at UNG I worked as an IESA student researcher, GIS teacher's assistant, club treasurer for the UNG Organic Gardening and Sustainable Living Club, and outreach officer for the UNG Geospatial Alliance. I currently work for a company that provides OSP, FTTH, & Wireless engineering design and support services, including permitting. I am eager to learn all I can as I continue to cultivate my skills and career.

Student Researcher at University of North Georgia
In September of 2016, I was hired by the University of North Georgia to work alongside Dr. Christopher Seminack on a satellite imagery based research project. The ultimate goal for this project is to develop a formula to predict tidal prism based on volume of flood-tidal delta. While working on this project I am analyzing high-resolution true color, false-color infrared, and LIDAR datasets obtained from NOAA, mapping geomorphic features associated with current and former tidal inlets, calculating area and volume of associated geomorphic features, and comparing flood-tidal delta volume with tidal prism. The skillset required to complete this project include a strong working knowledge of ArcGIS and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel, familiarity with true color imagery, false-color infrared imagery, and LiDAR datasets, the ability to create new shapefiles in ArcGIS, trace polygons over geomorphic features of interest, calculate area and volume of polygons, create a database of flood-tidal delta volumes and associated tidal prism, and perform linear regression in Microsoft Excel.
