As a motivated individual, I find that I am very diligent in working to meet my goals, though I find a greater sense of joy in helping others reach their own goals. While working at The Respite Connection for the past four years, I have had the pleasure of providing respite and supported community living services to individuals with special needs. Though this job has been very fulfilling, I have realized that I would serve a greater purpose as an Occupational Therapist. After earning my Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts degree from Des Moines Area Community College, I enrolled at Iowa State University in the Kinesiology and Health: Pre-Professional Occupational Therapy program. Upon graduating with my bachelors degree in the fall of 2019, I will enroll in a graduate program to earn my doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. Once I have earned my doctorate in OT and have become a certified Occupational Therapist, I will be searching for an employer in the outpatient care setting. In this setting, I will seek to specialize in providing therapy to individuals who have special needs and/or developmental delays. Due to my strong work ethic, cheerful personality, and willingness to go above and beyond to help others, I would be an integral part of a therapeutic team.
