Elizabeth Williams

I am working towards my goals now by building my musical and academic resume. Having a strong academic calendar is pivotal to reach my goals. I study hard to maintain a high G.P.A, and I strive to excel in all of my classes. Next year, I am committed to auditioning for summer opera internship programs. I am looking at programs abroad as well as in the U.S. One particular program I am interested in is at the Central City Opera in Central City, Colorado. I will continue to build musical experience and technique as well as strive for academic excellence.

 I am in two University ensembles called University Singers and Chamber Singers.Last year I became the Vice President for  ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association).I will also continue my officer position as the Volunteer Coordinator at the Thomas More Newman Center. As the Volunteer Coordinator my long term goal is to take my group to a third world country to volunteer. Short term, I am coordinating retreats to help with the homeless in Albuquerque and other places in New Mexico.

In the last two years our group has done several different outreach missions for the homeless.Including the Good Shepherd Center in Albuquerque, where we had enough socks to give a package to everyone.We also went to the Amistad Facility, where we had gift bags for each child filled with hygiene items.Our group also went to Albuquerque to distribute clothes with the Franciscan Friars to those in need. That evening, we went to the Barrett House Foundation for Battered Women and Children to play games , watch movies and, to distribute gift bags  for the children and for the mothers. I also am considering joining the Peace Corps or some other organization to volunteer abroad after I graduate.

After I graduate and spend some time volunteering I would like to settle down and have a family of my own, I will apply for high school choral director positions and work in the public schools for awhile. After I have saved up enough money, I plan to continue my education  and receive my doctorate to each at the collegiate level.
