Matthew Crocco has extensive knowledge of Java, the JVM and the Java Memory Model and has released several Java based projects and has experience in contributing to various Open Source repositories such as Minecraft Forge (an in-depth modification utility for the popular game Minecraft) and LibGDX ( a Java game development framework). Having participated in FIRST Robotics Competitions in the last two years of high school, where he was a the sole programmer and later President leading the design and development of competitive robots who competed in the SBPLI Regional Competition. Now he is a Programmer Mentor helping other teams and has developed an extension and abstraction layer to make development and innovation easier in FIRST Robotics. Before choosing to study Computer Science, Matthew Crocco focused on scientific research particularly in the area of genetics and microbiology. Through a school program he took an internship at LIU Post under, the then Head of Biology, Dr. Theodore Brummel where he conducted research on the effects of nutrition and genetics on aging and fitness in the common fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster.

Led a group of Computer Science 1 students through a series of lab activities involving Python and Rochester Institute of Technology's own Python library, ritlib. Held tutoring hours where students could come to me seeking assistance with particular problems, teaching critical and logical thinking as well as in-depth problem solving using computers.
