Maureen Melville

Majored in Management
SUNY Oswego, Class of 2017
From Liverpool, NY
My name is Maureen (Bilbo) Melville and I have successfully managed people and departments since 2000, including customer service and sales functions, and call centers and staffs of up to 30 direct reports, on both the east and west coasts. I've been comfortable and effective in each industry I've experienced, do well in fast-moving environments, and rise to the occasion in professional environments that are in transition. I'm a strategic, as well as tactical, hands-on manager who quickly learns how to do all the jobs in the department in order to understand how things function, fit and work together; to be able to analyze how jobs can be made more efficient for increasing productivity and reducing costs; and also to be able to help out in any specific area in a crunch. Throughout my career I've been fortunate to rapidly earn the trust of superiors, colleagues and employees in each position I've held. This has opened the door for me to be able to develop my units/departments into pleasant, efficient environments which bring out the best in my staff, resulting in high-performance, dedicated teams and overall profitability, even during difficult economic situations. People like to work with and for me. My strengths lie in business building and management, staff engagement, training, development and performance management; business development and profitability building; department transformation; and change management. I have often been the person people go to in a crisis. Im usually the constant in a sea of change, one who manages, or helps manage, the change. Before I had a family of my own (husband, small child, puppy) I traveled a bit, and enjoyed it greatly. I spent a few weeks in India, visiting temples, mosques, etc., and learning a great deal about the culture of the country, and spent a few weeks in China doing the same. Traveling all over the world has made me a better, more tolerant, person.
