When I tell people I plan to major in sociology, they usually respond with something like, "so what are you going to do with that...?" I have always been intrigued and inspired by the social world in which I live. With the well-rounded liberal arts education I am receiving from Colby College (with a concentration in sociology), I plan to use this knowledge to help those around me. Another common question I receive is, "What are you going to do after graduation?" To be honest, I am trying to retain an open mind. I do know that I intend to make a positive impact in the lives of those I come into contact with. I am currently exploring the field of pediatric speech-language pathology in the context of both clinical and school settings. I am drawn to this work as I enjoy working with children and desire a career in which I can offer direct personal help while employing my interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
