Nicholas Cohn

For several years, I have worked in an academic setting not only as a dedicated student but also as an enthusiastic leader, striving towards the improvement and enrichment of learning communities. Overall GPA: 3.98 Major GPA: 4.00 - B.A. English by May 2020 In particular, I have a passion for the written word and have thus chosen to major in the field of English. This course of study has helped me to build upon previously laid foundations, having already gained experience with copy-editing as the three-year Editor-in-Chief of my high school yearbook and experience in writing through my own creative writing pursuits, currently demonstrated by my work on my website, CohnQuest. Thus far, I have taken a wide array of classes, covering topics such as the essays of James Baldwin, the elements of creative fiction, and the mechanics of research and citation. - Coordinator and Consultant in the University of San Diego Writing Center Alongside my primary academic pursuits, I also have worked for the last year in the University of San Diego Writing Center, an essential service of the USD English Department to the rest of the student body. First as a consultant (or tutor), I collaborated with dozens of student writers of any field of study on works at any stage in the writing process--from brainstorming to final edits--as well as maintained regular journals and attended weekly workshops to help improve my consulting sessions. Now as a Coordinator, I continue collaborating with the student writers while also overseeing our staff of over forty consultants and serving as a liaison to USD faculty. - Minors in Mathematics and Physics - Experienced Tutor - Member of the USD Alcala Club Through the USD Alcala Club, a service organization of rigorously selected students, I have had the opportunity to represent the university in several settings, as well as meet and work closely with the University's leaders, special guests, and supporters, including the current President of USD.
