As a 22 year old college senior, Im excited and apprehensive about facing the real world so to speak. I am pursuing my degree in Government to both better understand our society and how we choose to govern ourselves and build the skills necessary to pursue a career in the business world.
Two summers ago I had an Underwriting Internship at Florida Family Insurance that allowed me to learn valuable business and analytical skills. I learned how to properly conduct myself in a professional environment, follow directions and most importantly, to ask questions when I was unsure about what to do next, instead of moving forward.
I was able to develop those skills further and learn more at my current positions as an Alumni-Development Intern at Lawrence University. I handled a variety of projects ranging from research on potential donors to developing a new tour of the University and implementing it into our current tour schedule. One of my most valuable skills from this internship however, was learning to be adaptable and be willing to take on any project with the same intensity regardless of how tedious it might be.
Once I graduate I hope to pursue a career in marketing or non-profit development, utilizing my communications skills, leadership ability, and versatility that Ive developed over two years of both professional and academic work.
