Roshni Patel

Ever since I was a little girl, my mission was to help people who are not as fortunate as me around the world. I grew up in a family full of physicians and surgeons who gave back to the community and the world. My five year old dream was to become a physician and save lives and it has not changed since. Not only do I want to practice medicine in the U.S., but also I want to practice medicine in countries that do not have access to modern medicine. I want to make a difference in people's lives and paint a smile on their faces. I know that becoming a physician comes at a cost of sacrificing a lot and putting in a lot of hard work and effort. But it is something I am willing to do. Everyday my mom tells me, "no pain, no gain." If I want to make a difference and help my community, I know that I will have to work hard for what I want and to overcome any obstacles that I may come across. Although I am a first year student, Muhlenberg College has provided the resources that will help me accomplish my life goals. The Muhlenberg College science department has a great premed program that will help facilitate my premed education and the medical school application process. I became interested in majoring in neuroscience and minoring in business. I have learned various skills during my first month here at Muhlenberg, such as communication, responsibility, time management, critical thinking, and creativity. During my volunteer experiences at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Phoebe Nursing Home, I have gained experience with patient care and communication. Also, I have gained knowledge about different health professions through shadowing doctors and attending the Mini Medical School program at Lehigh Valley Hospital. I have build on my creativity through my passion for photography. With all of these educational and fun experiences in mind and more to come, the premed path has truly helped me create future goals of practicing medicine and make differences in people's lives.
