Sarah Moore

As an economics major, I have developed a passion for analyzing trends and my experience working on the front lines of retail has given me ideas about how to improve merchandizing operations. I aspire to apply my knowledge of data analysis to make retail better for both corporations and consumers. My background in design adds another dimension to my expertise. Studying design for two and a half years honed my ability to create functional and elegant solutions to a variety of problems, from designing studies to implementing changes. Businesses benefit from high quality design, whether it makes processes more efficient or documents more visually appealing. I can bring design to areas, like market research, that need more design attention. I use the economics and design principles of effective and efficient organization in my leadership efforts, too. For a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser, I recruited 100 volunteers and led them in constructing a shack, occupying it for a week, and raising almost $1,000. During my time as an architecture major, I led the U.S. Green Building Council chapter in promoting sustainable design and educating students about LEED. It is my belief that sustainability is also important in retail, as it shows social responsibility and can even increase the bottom line. Technology is quickly changing the way business is done. I have developed my knowledge of information systems so that I am able to understand the opportunities presented by these new types of technological developments.
