Steven Haney

Majoring in Industrial Electrical Tech, Minoring in Industrial Maintenance
Owensboro Community and Technical College, Class of 2018
From Fordsville, KY
I was born in Chicago, IL. That is where I learned plumbing and ran my own truck and tools until 1997. I met my wife in Louisville, Ky in May of 2001 but didn't marry until a few years later. I've always challenged myself towards improvement and that is why I'm currently enrolled at OCTC working towards my associates degree.

Truck Driver at Gibco Motor Express L.L.C.
I drove a day cab semi and pulled a 40 foot dump trailer. When I first started with Gibco I drove a regional route starting in Morgantown, Ky where I had salt cake (which is a bi-product of molten aluminum) loaded on my trailer. I then drove down to central Alabama where I unloaded then reloaded hazardous material type salt cake and hauled it up to West Virginia. Then on to Pittsburg for a load of scrap metal and back to Owensboro.
April 2011 - October 2012
Truck Driver at J & S Trucking

Owner at Your Plumbing Connection
I perform residential service calls in Hancock, Ohio, and Daviess Counties. Some of the jobs I perform include: faucet and toilet repair and replacement, water leak location and repair, garbage disposal installation, drain clearing (including main line rodding).

Commercial Fisherman at Kodiak Fish Company
I signed and completed one contract with Kodiak. I flew from Bellingham, WA.,where their main hub is, to Union Bay, Alaska on single engine cessna. From there I boarded a 100 ft drag boat and traveled into the Bering sea where we fished for japanese flat fish. At the end of the season we drove the boat through the Bering Strait back to Bellingham, WA. Once there we unloaded the fish we caught which took approximately 40 hour (only breaking every eight hour for 30 mins to eat). It was the scariest job I ever had.
